Diagit is a medication containing Activated Attapulgite and Pectin. It is used for the symptomatic treatment of diarrhea of unknown causes. Activated Attapulgite absorbs toxins, bacteria, and viruses causing diarrhea, while Pectin reduces the frequency of bowel movements and improves stool consistency.
Dosage:
- Adults and children over 12 years old: Start with 2 tablets, followed by 2 additional tablets after each bowel movement. Maximum of 12 tablets in 24 hours.
- Children aged 6-12 years: Start with 1 tablet, followed by 1 additional tablet after each bowel movement. Maximum of 6 tablets in 24 hours.
Directions for Use:
- Can be taken before or after meals.
Precautions:
- Do not use for more than 2 days, in cases of high fever, or for infants and children under 6 years old without a doctor's advice.
- The safety of use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not well established.
- In cases of dehydration in children, oral rehydration solutions (ORS) must be given.
- May affect the absorption of other medications, so it is recommended to allow a 2-3 hour interval between taking this medication and others.
- If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.
