Mylanta is a medication containing Aluminum Hydroxide, Magnesium Hydroxide, and Simethicone in syrup form. It is used to alleviate symptoms related to excess stomach acid, gastritis, peptic ulcers, and duodenal ulcers, such as nausea, stomach pain, and heartburn. The combination of Aluminum Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide acts as an antacid, neutralizing stomach acid and inactivating pepsin, which reduces heartburn caused by acid irritation. Additionally, the laxative effect of Magnesium Hydroxide helps counteract the constipation caused by Aluminum Hydroxide.

Dosage:

• Adults: 1-2 teaspoons (5-10 mL), 3-4 times daily.
• Children (6-12 years): 1/2 - 1 teaspoon (2.5 - 5 mL), 3-4 times daily.

Directions for Use: Take 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals, and before bedtime.

Caution:

• Not recommended for continuous use for more than 2 weeks unless directed by a doctor.
• If using other ulcer medications, such as cimetidine and tetracycline antibiotics, take them 1-2 hours apart.
• Not recommended for children under 6 years, unless prescribed by a doctor, as the causes of their condition may not be clear.
• Use with caution in patients on a low-phosphorus diet or for long-term use, as it may reduce blood phosphorus levels.
